Meet your Brewer
-
Nate, our exceptional craft brewer, is a proud graduate of Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart Academy and Central Michigan University. In the spring of 2020, he embarked on his journey in the CMU fermentation program, where he truly discovered his passion for brewing. The Ale House is honored to showcase the remarkable talent of a local artisan who is dedicated to crafting outstanding beers for our community.
How it all started…
The Hunter family opened Hunter’s Ale House in 2012, blending the warmth of a restaurant with the creativity of a craft beer bar. After a few successful years, Cheryl and Dave embraced their passion for brewing and embarked on an exciting microbrewery journey. In 2015, they brought their vision to life with a brewery that focuses on crafting small batches of diverse and flavorful beers.
Connected by their charming Cask Room, the brewery and Ale House offer a space for unforgettable celebrations like retirement parties, birthdays, showers, and weddings, all complemented by delicious catering from the restaurant. Their past partnership with Central Michigan University’s fermentation science program highlights a commitment to education, providing students with invaluable hands-on brewing experience in the first program of its kind in Michigan. We are committed to supporting local agriculture by utilizing ingredients sourced from across Michigan, which are malted right here in Isabella County.
Among their initial brews, you'll find inspiring creations like “What Would Jesus Brew,” a coffee porter infused with Brazilian roasted coffee grounds, alongside the imaginative ‘Puppy-Monkey-Baby’ and ‘CMU Victory IPA.’ Last year, Nate brewed over 50 different varieties of ale, including 24 that we kept on tap. Today, our best sellers are ‘Sticky Orange’, ‘Grandpa Chucks’, ‘Hell of a Day IPA’, and ‘Coach’s Golden Ale’. We invite you to join us today to explore our sampler and discover the brew that speaks to you!
